St Joseph’s Nudgee College is looking for a Director of Human Resources to lead our HR team, manage HR issues within the organisation and be a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team. In this position, the successful candidate will oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, industrial relations, remuneration, benefits, performance management, and employee development.

Role

The ideal candidate must have solid leadership skills, strong industrial relations knowledge, and a track record of successfully implementing HR strategies. The successful candidate requires empathy, good judgment, and exceptional communication skills to implement policies and practices that benefit the employer and the employees.

This is a full-time fixed term, continuing non-teaching position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Human Resources operations at the College.
  • Review and update all Human Resources processes and policies.
  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of Human Resources systems.
  • Interpret and provide advice for the implementation of the current EBA to ensure organisational compliance and accountability needs are met.
  • Drive, influence, and support the development of a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure delivery of Human Resource compliance activities, statutory reporting, and training requirements across the College.

Expected Knowledge, Attributes and Competencies

  • Highly developed organisational and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead with empathy and understanding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptionally high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Significant experience in leading delivery of high quality HR services to a broad range of staff and leaders, including but not limited to recruitment, employee relations and remuneration
  • Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and make sound business decisions.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Up-to-date tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Law.
  • Extensive HR and leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial relations and employment laws.
  • Experience in dealing with Industrial Relations, employee disputes, claims, and tribunals.
  • Employment at the College is subject to Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian legislation. All non-teaching positions require a valid Working with Children Blue Card.
