What are Learning Expeditions?
Learning Expeditions are an integral part of the Brewster educational experience that provide our students the opportunity to step out into the world to make real-world connections to what they are studying in their classrooms.
What makes Learning Expeditions unique?
Learning Expeditions are…
Frequent
Our students do not wait until the end of the year to go on their field trip. There are various Learning Expeditions each trimester throughout the year to complement their studies.
Highly personalized and connected to the class curriculum
Teachers plan Learning Expeditions in collaboration with our Director of Learning Innovation who helps identify relevant destinations and develop a robust curriculum for before, during, and after the trip.
Most of our Learning Expeditions are facilitated by Brewster faculty to ensure that close connections are made to the class curriculum, and that students’ unique needs are met.
Student-centered and active
Students are not just passive listeners when we are on Learning Expeditions. They have an active role drawing, writing, and even leading tours of the places we visit.
Learning to make meaningful connections
Whether students go near or far, we guide our students to make deep and meaningful connections with the world around them.
